Biography 

Dr. Trudy Tappan
Event Coordinator, National Aerospace Organization

     

     Dr. Tappan is an educator, licensed risk manager, and writer. Her interests include medical devices, new products, pharmacology, compliance, and infection control. Certified in managed care, utilization and quality management, Dr. Tappan performs compliance audits and medical proposal reviews. In addition, she is a subject matter expert in medical research and oversaw clinical aspects of a FDA Phase III trial working with physicians and nurses in various hospitals to assure study compliance.

     Dr. Tappan worked for an integrated health care system reporting to the Vice President and General Counsel and was fully responsible for the risk management program outlined in Florida Statutes. As corporate risk manager, Dr. Tappan’s goal was to minimize the adverse effects of loss and to educate others in loss control and incident reporting. She awarded over 1000 continuing education credits to internal professional staff and published seven Intranet continuing education programs and one Internet program on a National website.

     Dr. Tappan has spoken to a variety of groups including the Florida Risk Management Institute, Florida Bar, the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants (FICPA), the Florida Claims Association (FCA), the American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review Physicians and the Association of Healthcare Managers (HFMA). In addition, Dr. Tappan is certified by the Florida Department of Financial Services to instruct health insurance continuing education courses. She has over 100 published articles in the medical field and in aviculture.
